Pins and needles/ what could this be?

3 weeks ago I started to have numbness, tingling, pins and needles in my little finger and ring finger on left hand.
its been on and off but every day since.

I rang the doctors and they have booked me in for a blood test but its not for 2 weeks.

This morning ive now woke up witg the same in my left food.

I’m really curious what could this be?

I’m 37 generally exhausted all the time - but i have a 2 year old so that may account for that.

Has anyone had similar?

Yep. I had tingling in my thumb and forearm at random times. Was really worried. It was due to a trapped nerve in my C6 vertebrae. Physio helped sort it. Good luck

Do you hold your phone in that hand, with the little finger supporting the phone ? I’ve had this recently and found that’s the cause.
‘Other than that, I had tingling in my hands and arms, and it turned out to be low ferritin.

Could be carpul tunnel
Could be thyroid

Its in my foot and my hand now, so it cant be a trapped nerve

Hi, did you find out what this was please?

Honeyroar · 09/11/2023 20:36

I had it years ago while at university. I’d forgotten all about it until recently until a friend had a slight breakdown and got signed off work due to stress. She said one of the symptoms was pins and needles. That’s what they put my pins and needles down to when I was at uni (I had a very difficult and unhelpful lecturer who was meant to be supervising my thesis, but did nothing, and I was worried). Once I knew nothing serious was wrong I relaxed and it went.

Gah. Didn’t realise it was an old thread.

A young woman I worked with years ago started getting pins and needles and sadly it was Multiple Sclerosis. Of course that's one of the worst case scenarios.

Carpal tunnel in wrist is thumb to half ring finger, trapped nerve in elbow is top of ring finger to little finger. I think similar with feet with the in same parts of lower legs. I had both wrist carpal tunnels done and fine since.

Leaning on your elbow (using computer etc) can cause the little finger +ring finger problem, stop doing it!

I've got it in little, ring and middle finger- diagnosed carpal tunnel with full nerve testing.
