I can't stop weeing help

I posted about this in chat a week ago but didn't get any replies. Last Saturday I went for a wee in the afternoon like normal and then kept having to go over and over, probably 6 times in an hour. My first thought was UTI so I got some OTC meds from the counter (I'm on holiday!). That evening my symptoms improved. The next few days I was mostly ok but during the afternoons would keep having to go and then it would settle back down. Today I went at about 10am, then 12ish, a couple of times between 12 and 2, a few times in the late afternoon and now I've been 4 times in the past hour. I must have been about 10 times today and even if it settles down I would expect another 2 wees but I suspect I will have more. I'm really stressed about it. I've been quite thirsty over the past week so worried about diabetes but I don't have any other symptoms, and it was so sudden. Thirst could be anxiety too. I'm doing big, clear wees that don't seem to correspond to how much I'm drinking. Tomorrow I'm going to try and get a UTI test from the pharmacy but I'm doing a lot of travelling between Sunday and Wednesday so I won't be back at home until Wednesday evening at the earliest. If it's a UTI then I can get antibiotics, but how could it be when I'm just weeing a lot and don't have pain or any other UTI symptoms? I'm frightened of it being something serious and I'm on my own here. Worried about being fobbed off by my own GP or having to wait for ages for treatment and being stuck like this.
FYI I'm early 20s and not overweight, no other health conditions. I feel well (touch wood) just upset by this.

Sorry to hear this, OP Flowers I'd contact my GP if I were you, just to be on the safe side.

You should get checked for diabetes today.

isthewashingdryyet · 07/05/2023 10:18

Diabetes. Check it today as it has come on so quickly. You can get a blood test at a pharmacy, check out which ones are open near to you today. Don’t wait til Tuesday.

isthewashingdryyet · 07/05/2023 10:41

Hope you are on your way to a pharmacy.

You are young so Type 1 is a real possibility.

you may then need to go to A and E to get started on insulin. It really does need to be today, as DKA will mean you may collapse into a coma so if you are on your own this is totally serious.
trying not to scare you, as it is not scary if you get going now, but it could be by the middle of tomorrow

Stress makes my bladder very twitchy! It's already overactive and I take meds for it. There could be many reasons for it, the majority non sinister. Cut out caffeine, alcohol and fizzy drinks for an immediate start and then get checked to see if its an infection. Anxiety gives me a dry mouth too and I'm more thirsty when my anxiety is high.

UTIs are painful urge to wee but almost nothing comes out.
No idea why OP is draining massive amounts of fluids.

Hope you sort it soon.

Exactly how I was when diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (it is not only children and young people that get it that's a myth)
A pharmacy might do a finger prick test for you or a dip test so you know if you need a&e or can rule it out but you need to be tested today.

Peachyscream · 07/05/2023 11:29

As previous posters have said, please get your bloods checked, now.
I'm 39 and was recently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. It was very sudden and when the nurse at GP checked, she called an ambulance and I was admitted for 2 weeks.
Also get an appointment booked with your GP for when you get back- maybe ask a friend to ring for you if time difference is an issue

justasking111 · 07/05/2023 12:39

@pissedofff I hope you've managed to get some kind of attention by now.

Sudokufail · 07/05/2023 13:31

Any word, OP?

pissedofff · 07/05/2023 17:31

Hi everyone, thanks for your messages. Yesterday my period arrived and the weeing went normal, I think I went about 7 times yesterday which is a huge improvement. Today I have been travelling a lot but I haven't had the urgency or passing significant amounts. I guess it's period related? My mouth is still a bit dry. I'm not by myself now though so I feel better. I'm going to ask GP to test for diabetes and also push for an ultrasound to check my womb is ok. I will try to update when I'm back in the UK.

I definitely have times of the month when I wee more - I guess it is the other half of the coin to water retention. Your case does sound extreme though.
