Iron levels - child query

Hello,

Could anyone help me to understand how 'low' my sons iron levels are? Pictures attached.

For context - he is ASD and has a predominantly beige diet.

Low.

The normal range is between 23.9-336 and your child has a level of just 13.

Oh that is low 😞

It has been up and down over the past few years. Do you think I should push for any further testing??

I would push for an iron infusion. The GP will either not be bothered by that result or will recommend taking ferrous sulphate tablets. However these can be hard to digest (can cause stomach ache/nausea/constipation) and it takes 6-12 months of iron tablets to get the number back up to something reasonable. You want it above 100 really. With a result that low, your son should be able to get an infusion which will put his number back up above 100 instantly.

He's on iron suspension x 3 per day.

This has been the case for two years, very up and down with his iron.
