Whilst 36 weeks pregnant I experienced severe abdominal pain that came on suddenly. It started just behind my left rib and the pain would radiate across the lower ribs and behind the right lower rib, at times it went up into my chest and back down again before settling on the right side. I was breathing through the pain it was so severe and lasted 30 minutes then stopped suddenly.
I have had my baby now 2 months ago and since then I have had 3 other episodes of this pain but it doesn't last more than 45 mins, it is also not as sore as the first time and although uncomfortable it is more manageable and again it just stops suddenly.
My Gp has referred me for abdominal scan which could take a while to happen. He thought gallbladder issues however I do not have any other symptoms with this pain. Nothing at all. Sometimes there is a dull throbbing behind my right lower rib. It happens during the day and night, with a full stomach and also an empty stomach. There is no pattern.
Any ideas at all what this could be.
