Problems focusing after car crash - any experience?

I'm about 5 weeks on from a car crash where a car in the lane beside me turned across me (I think I was in their blind spot) and I went into their side with my front passenger corner at about 25 mph (I had hit the brake but too late. I didn't hit my head but my whole body was clenched tightly on impact). I have had problems focusing on mid distance with my right eye since. I got checked out by my doctor and then referred to the eye hospital shortly after but they couldn't see any damage, told me my eyes were slightly misaligned and it's probably muscle spasm causing it being hard to focus and should resolve itself soon. It hasn't so I'm going to see my optician about next steps. But I read that car crashes can actually cause misalignment and I want to find out if I had misaligned eyes before the crash. I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience and could share so I know I'm following up correctly. I work at a desk so it's causing me problems exactly where I need to focus to see the computer monitor.

My mother was in a bad crash about 50 years ago and had exactly this problem, her eyes couldn't focus together. She had an operation to try to correct the misalignment but it was experimental at that time and wasn't very effective. It sounds like you are on the right lines in asking about this.

Thank you @Mistymountain . The hospital were so blasé about it I was wondering if I'm over reacting.
