Weird face rash

I think I had some midge bites on Saturday afternoon. Small flies were certainly bothering me.

Woke on Monday with itchy patches on face and slightly flushed. Seemed to calm down during day.

Today a lot of my face has tiny raised bumps all over, close together and more insane itchiness. I look a bit sun burnt.

I can react badly to midges but never like this - though with fewer insects around generally I really can't remember the last time I was bitten.

There was a query about slapped cheek going round at work (school) - I know I wasn't immune a decade ago when I had my first child. But thought we'd all had it since in the family. I didn't think that itched?

(I'm only querying it as I've had a lot of other strange symptoms recently, including irregular heart beat for 2 months, which I'm seeing Gp about today. Had tonsillitis badly 3 weeks ago for which I needed antibiotics. Following that and my period I was incredibly brainfogged. Completely floored by it. That's starting to clear. If this rash is a virus that could explain it. I'm just uncertain what the hell is relevant to tell the Gp!)

Taken an antihistamine that's doing bugger all, off to get bite cream later.

All of it could be fucking menopause tbh but I'm on a lot of all the hrt!

Can you share a picture? With your other symptoms could it be lupus or rosacea? Lupus can cause sun sensitivity/reaction.

Thanks for your response. It doesn't look lupus like as the rash is around my nostrils not over my nose. Would that be itchy? I'm going with hives but I've not had it like this before.

I'm trying to be horses not zebras but I do have a lot of weird issues, mostly ascribed to peri menopause right now, plus hypothyroidism and asthma (sort that reacts to viruses.)

Finding it hard to get a pic as I also have Kp the skin around my nose is normally not bumpy like this:

Now very itchy under my chin too.

I'd say it's symmetrical across my face too.

I once had a weird symmetrical rash on my inner forearms which Gp said was hives, though anti histamines did nothing. So I assumed viral.

I think this has been a scarlet fever like reaction (though I've just had tonsillitis and finished antibiotics so I don't understand how or why.)

Rash now sand papery. Anti histamines did nothing, even x2. It also burned.

Feeling much more healthy bar heart rate. Which can't be anything serious if I feel ok now!

Dd had scarlet fever and it looked like this. What does your tongue look like?

annonymousmouseinyourhouse · 03/05/2023 20:31

You also need 10 days of penicillin for Scarlett fever.

redredbluegreen · 03/05/2023 21:08

It can't be scarlet fever, just very like it; I finished antibiotics for tonsillitis/ strep throat about 2 weeks ago. (Allergic to penicillin, take something different.)

Very similar. Burning and insanely itchy and now like sandpaper. All over my face and neck. (My kids have had it x2 each and I caught it once of one of them, but rash was only on my chest. Then developed tonsillitis.)

No other symptoms. I actually now feel quite well. Very weird.

Looks just like when ds had slapped cheek, weird sand paper rough rash.

redredbluegreen · 04/05/2023 06:53

Ah that would make sense if so. I didn’t know that was sandpapery
