Is this shingles?

Hello,
I haven’t been able to get a doctor’s appointment (but will be trying again tomorrow). I wondered whether anyone could tell me if this looks like shingles? It’s painful to touch, on one side and I have been experiencing extreme fatigue,
Many thanks for you advice

Shingles hits the nerve endings - so it’s possible

Try a chemist - quicker than the doctors.

It does look like it and I’ve had it in the same place ( looks like your side) . You need anti-viral medication asap.

Mumof4love · 01/05/2023 23:33

Thank you both for your responses!
Ahhh I didn’t realise I could go to the pharmacy, thank you!

You can but they can’t give you the anti virals. I would go to gp asap and don’t be fobbed off in the morning. Sooner you start the antivirals the more likely they are to work.

Yes mine looked like that and in the same place.

Stripycatz · 01/05/2023 23:36

That doesn't look like shingles. It looks more like insect bites. (Not a doctor)

Mumof4love · 01/05/2023 23:37

Right, yes this makes sense. It’s just impossible to get an appointment at the moment. I tried on Thursday and Friday. But I didn’t actually realise then what it could be at that point, so I’ll let them know my concerns. Thank you all!

Sorry, just zoomed in and saw there were blisters. Likely shingles.

cantdocando66 · 02/05/2023 09:22

Looks bit like shingles prob start to get white head by now and burst crust ect. My doctor told me you need to start the medication within three days if them start otherwise they don't really help and no point take them just have to sadlyride it out .

Can you afford a private gp ? They will likely precribe from the photo. You should ask for anto virals and something like amitriptyline for the pain (its specifically for nerve pain)

Mumof4love · 02/05/2023 20:16

Thank you for this! I was actually looking at the online GPs today @SeaToSki , but I’m a bit concerned that the prescription charge will be loads! I couldn’t get a GP appointment but the pharmacist confirmed it’s shingles. My name is down for an out of hours call back, so hoping they can prescribe me some anti vitals etc. Thank you again!

I have used UK Meds before, you just have to put in that you cant get a GP appt and you have had the diagnosis confirmed by a pharmacist (and probably upload the photo). They have been sending me coupons to try and get me to use them again, so you might be able to use it. Its SAVE20 for 20% off the medicine cost. Might be worth seeing if they will prescribe and what the cost is, you dont have to order it if it ends up too expensive. Hope you feel better soon.

Unfortunately you are out of the window of timing for the antivirals I believe, generally it's 3 days from the start of the rash/blisters.

Bodiii · 04/03/2024 16:05

I've had this rash about two weeks

Bodiii · 04/03/2024 16:08
