High blood pressure- amlodipine

Does anyone here take amlopidine for high blood pressure? Started taking it 5 days ago (5mg) and I feel truly awful- nauseous, exhausted, completely rubbish. The information does say side effects are common but should wear off as you get used to the medication.

I’m probably going to phone the doctors tomorrow but I wonder if anyone else has used amlopidine and had similar but started to feel better? My BP is loads better so maybe it’s the sudden drop in my ‘usual’ BP that’s making me feel awful. I just want to feel like myself again.

About a month in and it does get better

Thanks @BarbedButterfly , did you feel awful to start with? Not sure I can take a whole month feeling like this.

A Lodi pine is a very safe and effective drug for bring down blood pressure. It does have common side effects and some people can't tolerate it but it is worth sticking it out for a few weeks if you can as it might settle.

The amount might need adjusting. And then increase as you get used to it. I had this with another BP drug losartan. I couldn't function on the amount. So had it reduced.

Thanks both, I wonder if they can adjust to 2.5mg (as my BP was apparently high but closer to borderline).

My BP was recorded high normal
last week but having a 24 hr monitor in a week or so. So good to know what to expect as I guess I will be receiving prescription at some stage.

I take it, main side effects are on my digestive system which have subsided a bit but sadly not completely. However, I'm sticking with it. 4 months in for me

Spoke to the doctor today and got myself very emotional (teary) another side effect as I’m just not feeling myself. They are switching me over to ramipril which I really hope will be better 🤞🤞
