Its about the size of a large marble and I can sort of'grab' hold of it. Hardish and not painful. No other symptoms and will be ringing surgery in the morning but I am shitting myself. Hodgkinsons and Non Hodgkinson is going round and round my head

Anyone had similar?

Might just be a gland?

Gatekeeper · 01/05/2023 19:34

Nothing on the other side

Lymph node. You may have/have had a bit of an infection somewhere like your throat or mouth. Perfectly harmless and will go down without any bother.

Pipilifie · 01/05/2023 19:39

I had this it was the size of a pea not painful in any way. I was sent for an ultrasound and it was a swollen lymph gland. It was around for months and then went. No treatment necessary it's completely harmless.

NewIdeasToday · 01/05/2023 19:40

Swollen glands. Can happen for various reasons. Absolutely no need to panic.

KleineDracheKokosnuss · 01/05/2023 19:42

I’ve had one for years (25 years) and it’s fine. My colleague has a large lump on his neck that he just needs to get removed (I forget the name for them, but they’re not harmful). Ask a doctor to check it out to be safe, but you might just be in the ‘got an odd lump’ club.

Thehonestybox · 01/05/2023 19:42

Yeah it's just a swollen gland - could be post infection but whenever anyone in my family's had it it's clearly been caused by stress!

You can get it checked if it doesn't go away in a few days though

caringcarer · 01/05/2023 19:48

I had this last year. GP sent me for a ultrasound scan on my neck. I was terrified it might be cancer but it was a round lump. The specialist told me it could be shaped like a coffee bean if they thought it was cancerous.

caringcarer · 01/05/2023 19:49

My lump is still there. It does not worry me now though.

treespouse · 01/05/2023 19:52

Have you had any sudden weight loss? Night sweat? Full body itching?
If any of those then I'd be concerned re lymphoma. If not, I'd give it a week or so and see if it's still around then reassess. A lump on its own would not panic me.

PinkFootstool · 01/05/2023 19:53

By all means get it looked at, but I also frequently only get one pea sized lump on my neck glands. Are any others raised? Under your lower palate, behind ears, armpits etc? If it's only one, I still wouldn't panic, but give it a day or three and see what it does.

LadyNellCardross · 01/05/2023 19:57

Please get it checked out OP. I had this and went to the GP expecting to be told it was just a swollen lymph node. Unfortunately it was thyroid cancer. I'm fine now but dread to think what might have happened if I'd just ignored it. Good luck.

mondaytosunday · 01/05/2023 20:03

Do NOT wait a week! Get it seen asap in the morning. Sure it is most likely nothing but what if not?

Fedupwitheveryone · 01/05/2023 20:08

I have these lumps - both painful and painfree - they have all been harmless lymph nodes so far BUT always get them checked quickly regardless

LikeEmeraldeyes · 01/05/2023 20:15

Hey op. I found a lump a couple of weeks ago. Where abouts is yours? I put an e consult in about 11 days ago and have heard nothing. Been too much of a wimp to follow it up and keep telling myself I'm imagining it

Gatekeeper · 01/05/2023 20:16

Thanks everyone. No weightloss whatsoever and no night sweats
Ive just had a look at my throat and the tonsil on that side is enlarged with a load of pus inside. Will ring surgery in morning just in case

@LikeEmeraldeyes its on the left side just where the neck starts to curve into the shoulder

I have a lump in my neck and I’ve had it checked and it’s a sebaceous cyst and nothing to worry about but the nhs won’t remove it because it’s near too much important stuff. I did get a quote to remove it privately but I needed to save up and to be honest I’ve learnt to ignore it and can think of more fun ways to spend my money! Yours sounds similar but always a good idea to get it checked out, I hope you get some reassurance soon.
