Hyperthyroid and Hoarse Voice

Hello, I was diagnosed as hyperthyroid two weeks a go after a routine blood test. I'm on carbimazole and beta blocker whilst I wait for a hospital appointment which I've been advised will be 8+ weeks.

I had palpitations and wired feeling - that's all eased off thanks to beta blockers. My voice is really raspy though - have other people had this with over active thyroid? Did it improve as thyroid levels came back down?

thank you!

Are you aware of your thyroid being swollen/enlarged? Or can you see/feel any lumps around the base of your neck? If your thyroid is enlarged or has nodules it can put pressure on your vocal cords/vocal nerve and affect your voice.
I would mention to your GP. They should be able to get you a referral to ENT for a thyroid scan and vocal cord check. Thyroid nodules can affect your thyroid hormone levels too – causing hyper- or hypo-thyroidism. How long has your voice been raspy for?
