Extra long periods + other weird things

Hi there,

I am going to see a gyno soon but it’s been a long wait and I was hoping someone on here might have some ideas.

I have been having extremely long periods for a year + now (12 ish days, sometimes longer). Absolutely horrible pain towards the end and have spotting in between.

I also bloat horrifically beforehand (can’t fit into my usual dress size for a week or so before), am we tired all the time. I get recurring cracking at the side of my mouth. Generally just feeling very run down.

Last week I felt so horrific with PMS, my legs swelled up, I felt sick, was constipated then upset tummy, migraines. Bled very bright red blood for about an hour then it stopped (I thought this was the start of my period). Since then, I’ve had very very light brown blood and the swelling has gone down.

I’m have the coil, 28 years old, 8 st 8 and 5 ft 8. I eat well, am active (when I have the energy), don’t drink too much etc.

Please if anyone has any ideas? I’m miserable.

The feeling tired and run down will be the blood loss, if nothing else. You're probably anaemia due to the length of your periods. I can't comment on the rest. Hope your appointment comes round soon

Poor you, that sounds miserable. Endometriosis?

ColdBrewInSummer · 27/04/2023 13:47

Thanks. Im was thinking maybe endo or fibroids.

I’ve had the most horrific cramping today. Been in the bath for hours trying to make it better but it hurts so much.

Its so miserable!

Your GP might prescribe you mefenamic acid for pain? I'm pretty sure I had them before being diagnosed anyway. I feel your pain, it really is debilitating.
