Hopi ear candles do they work ??

No

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 25/04/2023 13:33

No, anything that comes out is the lining of the candle.

Newusernameaug · 25/04/2023 13:33

I don’t find they do much. I get very gunky ears and have resorted to buying a water jet flosser, putting warm water in and doing my own ears to unblock them!

Which one?

I don't think hopi candles work, sadly.

this Is what I use, had it several years now and has saved me a fortune on ear suction and ear syringing

Newusernameaug · 25/04/2023 13:37

Sorry link here:
Femometer Oral Irrigator Water Flosser with 5 Modes and 5 Nozzles, 300ML Water Tank with Gravity Ball Design, IPX7 Waterproof Tooth Cleaner for Home Travel https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09K4664LM?ref_=cm_sw_r_apin_dp_7F8YMJYDMNTE71V9GMMP

I would of thought any of them work, mine has 3 settings so I start gently and then usually only need the medium one. I put my head over the sink and all the gunk comes out

@Newusernameaug I've never heard of using that before?

@Newusernameaug I've never heard of using that before?

I hadn’t until a few years back, I think it was even here on mumsnet I saw it and thought I’d give it a go.
obviously you have to be super careful, but I was desperate as couldn’t get syringing done via NHS and suction was costing me £75 and 2 hr round trip, every other month.

I’ve used it on myself, my son and bro in law has also tried it now and it works exactly the same way ear syringing with warm water does. Just be super careful!

Helpmymenopausalfanny · 25/04/2023 13:59

Don’t use the candles. I used them years ago and subsequently had loads of ear issues. Might not be linked but Stay clear of them.

greenacrylicpaint · 25/04/2023 14:02

they don't work and are not safe.

many opticians offer ear suction with their audiology service.

mumof31968 · 25/04/2023 18:47

The bone by the back of my ear was giving me some pains, doctors said it was ear wax completely chocca. Told me to use olive oil drops but I'm guilty of shoving cotton buds in my ears so done this myself, pain is like a short stabbing pain round the back of my right ear both are blocked but only the right side giving me problems.

@mumof31968 have you tried an ear syringe bulb? I've been doing the olive oil and used the bulb today and lots of wax came out. This thread reminded me I had one.

CuriousMama · 25/04/2023 20:15

I used warm water.
