Pityriasis rosea

Has anyone had this? Does it really last for six to ten weeks? I’ve just been diagnosed with it. Very happy to hear it’s a harmless rash but that’s a long time to be itchy!

Get on the sun bed depending on how bad it is it can clear it up in a week

My daughter (8) had this. It started with a weird little red patch on her neck (called the herald apparently!) and then she came out in the rash a few days later. It only lasted a couple of weeks for her and she was completely unbothered by it. It looked terrible at first, but wasn’t itchy and cleared up with no scars. I hope it passes quickly for you!

My husband had this a few years ago and it lasted about 3 months I'm afraid to say! It didn't bother him it just looked unsightly but luckily it was all over his torso and back.

Thanks both! Mine is all over my torso too and unfortunately quite itchy, although that comes and goes a bit.

My pityriasis rosea rash lasted for that amount of time too. Found that antihistamine cream helped a bit with itching.

I had it for about 6 weeks, wasn’t particularly itchy.
I found it weird that I had never heard of it - I had a very old fashioned GP at the time who was delighted to dust off his big book of skin complaints/rashes and tell me about it!

I’ve never heard of it either! Mine isn’t itchy all the time - mostly after the shower or if I get hot and my back seems worse than my front! Such a nuisance but so glad it’s completely harmless.

mine lasted about 3 months and my torso neck & arms were absolutely covered. I was unlucky to feel unwell with this and had flu like symptoms as well. Joint pain, headache, fever and felt knackered

Tralala33 · 25/04/2023 14:11

I've had it twice which is unusual. The first time I used sunbeds and head and shoulders shampoo. It cleared up quickly after doing both these things.

As soon as it appeared the second time I used Head and Shoulders again (no sunbed this time) and it cleared up very quickly.
