Broken toe help

MistySkiesAreGone · 24/04/2023 10:21

I have just walked into the bookcase. I caught my little and fourth toe. I don't actually think I broke the toe (done that before) but I think I hanked the little toe away from the fourth one and the muscle between them is now agony up my foot.

Help what should I do????

I did similar once, walking into a chair leg, I didn't actually do anything but sit it out and put a towel and ice on it to stop too much bruising and swelling, don't be surprised if it swells a bit and a large bruise spreads round up your foot though, mine did. I would find some roomy comfortable shoes. It's extremely painful but the pain did subside after a while, you poor thing

If you can face it I would get to A&E - I did this whilst on holiday in France once and I'd dislocated the toe (and fractured it and torn the tendon) so the drs needed to get the toe back into the right place before it could start to heal. You would be wise to get it checked to make sure that there is nothing similar. Hope it feels better soon Flowers

Thanks got peas on it. How long did it take to heal @User158349890 ? I just started a gym routine, that'll be why it happened lol.

It was a while ago now, but I think it was about 2 or 3 weeks, I did manage to climb up Snowdon about a couple of weeks after it happened but only because it was encased in walking boots so was fairly stable, the main problem I found was because it swelled, finding comfortable shoes. Though as PP says go to have it looked at if you have any doubts that all might not be in the right place, have you got a minor injuries place, or once I went to see the nurse at the GP when I sprained my ankle.
