Physio - Private/ NHS provision - any crossover?

I've been having really bad shoulder pain which is causing me headaches and dizziness. Assuming that I won't be able to get a GP appointment for several days (and any referral weeks) I got an appointment with a private physio I've seen before who specialises in upper limbs/ shoulder etc.
It says in her bio she works with NHS consultants and can refer for MRI scans and do steroid injections.
Does anyone know how this works - would it all end up being private, or can a physio refer back into the NHS?

Ask her when you call to make the appointment?

I'd expect her to be able to refer for an NHS MRI. Re steroid injections, if they're done by her they'll be done privately.

We had a bit of a nightmare with this type of thing. A private physio referred DH for an MRI but the hospital wouldn’t accept a physio referral so we then had to see a consultant to make the MRI referral.

In my experience a private physio can refer back to the NHS and can write recommendation letters to your GP. But there’s no guarantee the NHS will have the process/funding to act on what they say. If you want better, more or faster treatment you might have to pay for it privately.

My private physio referred me back to my GP for an MRI done on the NHS. He emailed the GP with my history and the GP called me to confirm it was what I wanted and ask which hospital, and sent the referral for the scan.

I then saw an NHS physio to get the results and she referred me to a group class for rehab, but that never materialised and in the meantime I had gone back to my private physio with the scan results (which the NHS physio emailed me).

If you have seen her privately she wouldn’t be able to refer you to an NHS consultant/request tests/do procedures in NHS. You could see her privately for an opinion while you wait for a GP appt and then if she felt the above were necessary ask the GP to make a referral to her so that the tests/procedures can be carried out.
