For years these small dry growths have been multiplying on my lower legs, feet and back of hands. Does anyone else have these, are they treatable, do I need to see a dr? Photos attached. They seem so insignificant in the photos but I feel "warty" in real life

These are stucco keratosis. I started with a few and now have hundreds of them that just seem to get larger and now show up everywhere but mostly ankles, feet and backs of hands. They seem to be creeping up my legs and arms, as well! They are disgusting and have totally impacted my self esteem. I have tried everything to remove them. I have had a number of them frozen off but they just return and it takes the legs/feet a long time to heal. I also have seborrheic keratosis on my arms and legs. I wish they could find some kind of treatment that could help improve this condition. 🙁

I gave a couple of these, I'm going to try the cream for rough skin on feet with urea to see if it helps.

Dragonsbe · 05/06/2023 21:37

Thank you Bossie123 for replying - I was feeling very alone! What have you tried? I've used urea cream, and now I'm trying a The Ordinary chemical peel on them, and pineapple (enzymes and Bromelain). My own ideas! I wish we knew more about the condition!

Hi Dragonsbe,
you are right, it’s a lonely feeling!
I have tried multiple topicals like Effudex, tretinoin, retinols, lasers, and freezing. Unfortunately, even if there is occasional success they come back! Apparently, there is no cure. I will keep trying things, though.
Let me know how things are going and if anything works for you!

I know this thread is a few weeks old but jumping on! I also suffer from stucco keratosis. Started about 6 years ago but this summer it’s gone wild on the tops of my feet, they are so bumpy 😭. GP could not have been less interested when I saw them years ago, said it was just a bit of dry skin & I’ve had to do my own research & see a private dermatologist.
They recommended that I use a cream containing AHAs. I’ve found this does work but also makes my skin itchy so I can only tolerate using it for a couple of weeks at a time. They start to clear up a bit and then I have to stop the cream because I’m too itchy!

LennyP
It’s sad that most dermatologists just don’t care since it is benign and they keep coming back.
What type of cream with AHA did you use?

LennyP · 10/07/2023 22:52

Both of these are body lotions. I can tolerate the Revolution one for longer because it’s weaker but I see the by far the best results with the NeoStrata.

Thank you!
I’m going to give the Neostrata a try.

Canyoucheckonme · 11/07/2023 07:28

I've had these for years on the tops of my feet and never known what they are - so thank you! I asked a GP years ago and he wasn't interested at all, just made out they were nothing.

I'm going to investigate the Neostrata cream now!

There’s a dermatologist called Dr Dray that I follow on YouTube - if you have a look at her channel, she may well have advice on this condition. She’s excellent!

Thank you! I will check this out.
These are now showing up on the back of my hands and my arms. Can’t stand it anymore!

I didn't want you to think I haven't been taking these updates on board...thank you! It is nice to know there are people out there trying to address this problem too x

I’m 47 and have stucco keratosis (based is the US). I’m very pale and use sunless tanning lotion/mousse which darkens all my spots. It’s so upsetting and I wish there was an effective treatment. 😕 it is really affecting my self esteem. I’ve had cryotherapy done but there are just so many spots from my ankles now all over my calves.

I have this condition also, I am doing a parasite cleanse right now and am told that's gonna clear my skin up, I have been having several skin issues in the last year or too. This last couple months is the first time I've had stucco keratosis, I have been getting rashes that don't want to go away and have been inflamed and itchy as hell, and it's been more than one kind of rash, I've actually had like three or four different kinds of rashes so far it's kind of weird but I talked to somebody and they said that a lot of skin problems are caused by parasites and along with other things so I guess it cleared their skin up so I'm going to go ahead and do one and hopefully it works I will let you guys know about my results after it'll be a couple months but hopefully all is well in this works just thought I'd give you guys a the info of the parasite cleanse thing maybe it would help you guys too. 😊 I am adding a few pics of the different rashes I have..
