Knocked for six by GA

Hello, just wondering if this is normal - had an op lasting about two hours under GA a week ago and still feel completely wiped out. Exhausted, foggy, dizzy spells. The op itself was a success and healing well, just can't seem to get my brain back in gear. Anyone else had this? Had several GAs in the past and don't recall feeling like this past about 24 hours.

Yes, perfectly normal, it can take a couple of weeks for the anaesthetic to wear off plus your body is healing from the operation.

That's reassuring, thank you.

Normal Smile
I had a 5hr op and basically slept, ate and watched Buffy for 3 weeks

Yes DS1 was a day patient for removal of a number of baby teeth that hadn't fallen out by themselves. Very quick op. He was the first of the ward to have his op and the last to go home that night. They were cleaning around him and when he did get home he was groggy for a few days after. Perfectly fine after that.

Completely normal. My eldest reacts very poorly to GAs and takes a good two weeks to get anything like back to normal.

Their younger sibling is having their tonsils out soon as I am already planning to write off the next fortnight 😁

I hope you feel better soon x

Thanks all, will give myself permission to rest up and finish the Easter chocs!
