Severe Tonsillitis / sinusitis and conjunctivitis

I’ve had severe tonsillitis or strep (wasn’t swabbed) since Sunday night with a bad fever of just under 40 which lasted until this morning - I’ve been on antibiotics for 3 days so feel less like death but still hurts to to swallow and white spots remain.

Added to this I have really red, eyes which I’ve been told is conjunctivitis but it’s getting no better with the ointment! I also have a lovely post nasal drip going on and ear ache.

I am guessing the bacteria has gone to my Eustachian tubes and the eyes are part of my overall run down body! I’m so fed up, I feel like it’s one thing after another.

The drs have been rubbish.

Has anyone else had a flurry of symptoms when getting something else? Is this normal? Am I just majorly run down 😵‍💫

Have you tested for Covid ? Conjunctivitis is a symptom of latest strain .Son had conjunctivitis ,sore throat ,and we all got Covid.

I was going to say covid too. You poor love how bloody horrible. Rest fluids and if you no better by Sunday phone your GP.

As an ex nursing sister my advice to get help is use the golden phrase 'are you refusing to see me?'

Works every time.

Sorry the NHS is so shit it's embaressing

Someone else said this but I tested today and was negative. But maybe I would have been positive yesterday or the day before. I’ve literally been bed bound and never so ill 😷 today is the first day I’ve managed to get up!

If you have managed to get up that's a good step forward but listen to your body. Rest/fluids the best medicine

Thank you lovely, doing everything I can - gargle salt, honey and lemon drink etc!

luckily I have private health care so was sorted but they obv can’t do face to face!

Both times I’ve contacted my gp they’ve told me to go to the walk in or a&e - at the time I couldn’t even get out of bed but I’m certainly not wasting hospital time!

Then contacted them about my eyes and was told to call opticians which I did and was told by them it’s my gps problem not theirs even though I said but it could be uvitus. Honestly it’s a tough world out there at the moment 🤦🏻‍♀️

I had this a few weeks ago, I honestly felt so poorly with it so you have my sympathies!

My throat was bad for around three weeks, worse on a night, and my eyes were so, so sore. I ended up getting drops from the pharmacy as I couldn't get in with the GP and it ended up spreading from one eye to the other, and once the course of drops were finished they were still not great and watery. Negative covid test.

I did wonder if I was run down but maybe it's something going round. Hope it passes soon for you op

I had a really bad sore throat and really puffy itchy red eyes for a good two weeks and have just about got over it in this 3rd week. It wasn't bacterial (no white spots.) But I had a lot of sinus pain and thick congestion. I had covid about two months before I got this and it wasn't as bad as this. I wonder if it's some strain of virus going round that effects your throat and your eyes.

People think tonsillitis is just a sore throat but it's horrid. I had a period where for 6 months I had it every month. The worse being a week before lockdown I was admitted to hospital because I was unable to talk from the swelling of the tonsils. The DR had to give me a drip and liquid antibiotics. I lost nearly a stone (not complaining) as I couldn't eat. I was bed bound for 10 days. My manager was like it's just a sore throat 😂 I was going to have them removed via my private health care but lock down hit and I've not had it since (touch wood) I hope you get well soon! Hope the antibiotics kick in. Just rest as much as possible, and drink plenty plenty of fluid aswell as your usual paracetamol and ibuprofen in between xxx

Thank you darling! Honestly I totally understand what you’re saying as it’s floored me and I’ve just checked my temperature and it’s gone back up again! It’s like the antibiotics aren’t working but I think I’ve got so much else going on my body is just on full attack mode!

My tonsils don’t look as closed together but they are so so painful and still full of white (granted not as much!) it’s like swallowing hot pins!

I Hope I shift a stone 😝 xx

Tonsillitis can be ok or it can totally floor you to the extent it's flu like so you are bed bound literally catatonic for a week plus.white pustules on your tonsils snd you rather spit than swallow (and not in a good way) 😂😂

Sounds like you might slowly be coming through it 👍👍 but it's horrible. Big hugs x
