Anyone know what's wrong with my hands

So I have problems with circulation and have had what I think are chilblains in the winter. My fingers regularly go white and numb. They have been painful and itchy too. Now they are so swollen I can't wear rings and have lumpy what looks like blisters on them which are itchy. No idea what's causing this. Has anyone experienced similar?

Reynauds syndrome. It is really common.

ImSoShiney · 20/04/2023 19:56

Yep.

Agree reynauds. I have it. If it’s severe enough there is medication for it.

I manage my Raynaulds by always leaving the house holding a hand warmer. Gloves didn't stop my fingers going white, numb and painful. I use re-chargable hand warmers and always have a few ready to go. I also invested in some cashmere fingerless gloves. They have been amazing. Gloves with fingers restrict the blood flow for me. I did go to the Drs about it and they offered me medication to increase blood flow but I didn't want to take them (think they were beta blockers). If it gets a lot worse I might re-evaluate. But the key is to prevent your hands getting to this stage in the first place by making sure there is a heat source for them when you hit the cold air or supermarket freezer section!

It's always worth a trip to the GP (if possible!) to get a diagnosis and rule out anything else. I do sympathise because it's a real bummer having this condition.

If you google Raynauds, you will often see pics of purple or really white fingers, but it can present in different ways. I'd def see your GP as it can be a sign of other conditions. Its generally just working out how to manage it though.

Yes raynauds. I have it too.

The itchy blisters look like contact dermatitis. Eczema caused by contact with something you are allergic too. Usually happens that the allergen is something you have contact with regularly over a sustained period. Such as latex gloves, washing soda....etc,

The raynauds is a separate condition.

Thighdentitycrisis · 21/04/2023 23:02

Yes, Reynauds doesn’t give you itchy blisters. Chilblains do though

Grimbelina · 21/04/2023 23:04

Raynauds plus something else? Raynauds can be primary or secondary (to conditions like RA, Sjogren's Syndrome etc.). If secondary, you really need to find out what the primary condition is as some benefit from early treatment.
