Any dentists on here? Is Invisalign do-able with gum problems?

Looking for advice from any dentists/orthodontists/dental nurses.

So, 2 of my front teeth at the top are wonky. You can see them when I smile. They have always been a bit squint but seem to look worse as I've gotten older.

I'd love to get invisalign to straighten them out, the problem is though, I have severe gum disease, brought on by my 2 pregnancies. Over the last year since my daughter has been born, my gums have receded quite badly. I'm getting regular treatment from my dentist to try and preserve them, as well as taking every measure I can at home too. I have huge gum pockets between some of them, which makes it look like I have gaps between my teeth. Would straightening out my teeth help close up the gaps a bit? I'm clueless, and although I'm getting regular treatment, it's very difficult to get an appointment with my dentist, my next one isn't until July, so I'd like to know a bit more before I next see her.

In general no orthodontic (brace treatment) is possible whilst you have active gum disease. Neither is it possible on teeth that have lost a lot of bone. This is because basically the forces will mean the teeth come out.

However someone who has very good control of their gum disease with not much bone loss may possibly be able to have brace work , but it will depend on the orthodontist.

Brace work will not get rid of the black triangles (spaces between the teeth) as this is caused by the gums shrinking .

I'm a dental nurse and you have to be approved for Invisalign and going from personal experience and working with Invisalign no we wouldn't put Invisalign on your teeth due to gum health.

Before thinking of Invisalign if your dentist does it (if not see some where else that does) about placing perio chips in to help with your gums. Perio chips help reduce the pocket depth.
