A&E or Doctor on Monday

Needanewnamebeingwatched · 15/04/2023 16:52

Had a 360 FDL tummy tuck on 11th March, surgery went well. Lots of fluid build up which was normal, however three weeks later I developed an infection in a small hole I had and ended up in hospital for three days. This is fine now and no fluid coming out of it anymore.

Now I have a soft area, with pain and redness at the front of the scar. With dark brusing?! Underneath.

Do I wait until Monday and go and see the doctor or ring the plastic surgeon who dealt with me while I was in hospital (no idea if they are there) or just go to A&E.

I tried a walk in centre last time and got told off for not going direct to a&e as they couldn't deal with the issue.

Pictures are 1 normal side and 2 of the "bad" side

Well what's her alternative, just die of sepsis because she had the audacity to pay for her own surgery rather than try and get the nhs to do it?

You think the NHS would do a 360 TT?

Moopsi · 16/04/2023 10:25

I hope you get seen quickly OP and get the treatment you need.

Dymaxion · 16/04/2023 10:25

Good luck at A&E , hope it isn't too busy and you get seen quickly.

SeaDee · 16/04/2023 10:48

Hope you're ok OP

Ignore the sniping on here

I don’t understand the negativity. The NHS picks up when things go wrong in UK private hospitals. Private hospitals do not have dedicated A&E facilities. Patients die from fuck ups in private care. Patients die from fuck up in the NHS (as my own child did). Where OP had her surgery is irrelevant. She’s a UK tax payer who has every right to be treated here in an emergency. I wish you well OP.

So very sorry to read about your child. I totally agree with your post, OP is a tax payer who has just as much right to treatment as anyone else. Her point re saving money in the long run due to now being healthier is valid too.

OP I hope you are seen and on the mend soon.

Thank you OP. Will be thinking my of you and hope you are on the mend soon.

OconsRazor · 16/04/2023 12:15

Good luck @Needanewnamebeingwatched hope it all goes well and you start healing. It's a long journey.

Needanewnamebeingwatched · 16/04/2023 15:34

So the surgeon came and saw me and said the wound would burst open at some point, so I asked if he could do it for me here.

So they made a cut and so much fluid came out, tons and tons of it.

Now bandaged up and should now start healing ok.

Back on antibiotics

He said it could happen wherever you have surgery and it's really common.

Katrinawaves · 16/04/2023 15:36

Hope the healing is all plain sailing from here on in. Are they keeping you in for a few days or are you back home now?

Magnoliainbloom · 16/04/2023 15:49

You got there in time, which is great. Now you can start to heal.

Needanewnamebeingwatched · 16/04/2023 15:58

No sending me home

They weren't too worried and were going to send me home and let it burst when it was ready, but I asked if they could do it now and I'm glad they did as the amount of fluid which came out was horrendous

I'm glad they were happy to burst and release the fluid for you
With the antibiotics I hope it heals well and quickly

Glad you’re on the mend.

Needanewnamebeingwatched · 16/04/2023 17:36

I did mention I was advised to come in to A&E last night, but she said you would have been waiting longer and probably best just to get a good night's sleep.

Well done for going in. You have as much right to use the NHS as anyone else.

Needanewnamebeingwatched · 16/04/2023 18:12

I wish I had videoed the fluid leaving my body, at one point I had my own water feature, sporner corner would have loved it

If you click on "see all" on the bottom right of any of the OP's posts you will see that she has updated and been to A & E and been seen and dealt with.
