Hyperhidrosis on face

Please help!

I have been diagnosed with Hyperhidrosis in particular on my face. It is so embarrassing and causes me stress and anxiety (yes probably making it worse).

The doctors confirmed our local health board does not fund botox (apparently the best treatment) for this anymore so i would need to fund myself.

Has anyone got this condition? Any advice on how to cure it?

Thank you!

I have this condition but not on my face. Has the doctor referred you to a consultant?

Botox does seem to be the thing now treat this condition following strong antiperspirants (which you obviously can't put on your face). My problem was with my hands and I was lucky to get an operation to snip the nerve which resolved the situation for me. That was 25 years ago though, not sure if they still do that now as it's quite invasive but from what I understand there is a similar operation that could cure your facial sweating.

I would really push to be referred if it were me. I had to visit three different gp's before they referred me but once they did the consultants room one look at my dripping hands and straight away put me on their waiting list.

I had this for years and it was HORRIFIC.

The only thing that helped - cured it completely actually - was acupuncture.

Had about a dozen sessions ten years ago and it's never come back. I sympathise, it was awful to deal with.

Hi cstx89 I also have hyperhydrosis but in my hands and feet. I had an operation for my hands years ago, where glands in my neck were cut which left me with a bit of a numb neck but dry hands. However I was told it would be glands at the bottom of my back(I think) for my feet so didn’t go ahead with that so my feet are still a big problem. It’s horrible. I really sympathise, you poor thing. I wonder if such an operation is available for the face.

Ive tried loads of different things over the years but have found an extra strong deodorant called Driclor I buy in Boots completely dries my feet out after about 4 applications. I wonder would some Driclor mixed into your moisturiser work. I suppose it’s strength could be a problem though. Might be worth a shot.

Thank u for the replies - much appreciated - honestly.

I might look into acupuncture first before considering botox. Lets hope it works.

I will try and push the GP again but I think they will keep shutting me down especially with how things are now!

I have this and take oxbutynin for it
Have you tried it?

OconsRazor · 16/04/2023 16:48

I was given beta blockers by the GP which didn't help and made me feel really ill too.

Seriously, acupuncture completely changed my life. The woman I found also treated it a bit like a therapy session so I got to talk out a lot of things too while I was there. It's quite expensive but I maybe had a dozen sessions overall.

I have it on my whole head, hands and the top of my back. I've never found anything that worked. Think I will look into acupuncture!

Me too, I will look into acupuncture too, thanks

I have it badly over my whole head and have been told it’s a side effect of some medications I have to take. Nothing really helps and docs a bit useless in offering anything. I reduced one of my drugs down to a lower a dose and that has helped a bit but I dread the summer. It’s just awful as my hair can drip with sweat. People ask me if I’ve been swimming. I should just say yes, I have.
