Help! Colonoscopy prep…

For those who’ve had a colonoscopy, can you help me with the timings of the prep?

I’m having a colonoscopy on Monday, my admission time is 4pm. The instructions I’ve been given say take the first picolax at 7am on Monday and the second at midday. I’m very concerned about taking it at midday and then getting in the car 3 hours later!! I’m wondering if I should take the first one at 6 and maybe the second one 10-11. This is my first and hopefully last colonoscopy

I have only used moviprep not picolax but I admit that I started mine an hour early because I didn't want to be up late waiting for it all to finish. (Morning appt so took evening before). I think I would do the same as you are suggesting

I would go for earlier if it were me. I say this because mine are usually in the morning with an overnight sleep, so I would imagine it is fine.

Thanks @lemonyellows and @Lovetotravel123 think I’ll set my alarm and try to get it started early. I’ve been dreading it for a while, I’m looking forward to it being over!

I was very worried about car journey, about hour trip. Covered seats, took clean undies with me, but had no problems think its more or less finished by then. Good luck xx

Thanks @Bourbanbiscuit that’s very good to know! DH is driving me in and I know he’d struggle with any emergencies on the way 😂

The stuff works quite quick, my DH had an 11.30 am appointment and literally spent the whole night in toilet beforehand, he only took half the second dose. At 8 am on the day, he said there’s no way he could go in feeling as he did but luckily the phone lines didn’t open up till 10 am and by then he had stopped going so went to hospital (along with spare clothes and wipes), but he was fine and consultant thanked him for taking it as it really helped them to get a good view. What I would suggest is to do the liquid diet a day more than is suggested.

Thanks @Mindymomo what time did your DH take his second dose?
