Sodding gigantic liver cyst is back

A large benign liver cyst was discovered (like most people) during investigations for gallstones last year measuring 9x11cm (for reference, anything over 4cm is large).
I was hospitalised for pain which I had presumed was gallbladder in Dec 22 but they thought there was a good chance this was the liver cysts responsibility due to it being wedged between the liver, gallbladder and pancreas. This was not my local hospital as I was away on holiday.
I had my gallbladder removed in January and they aspirated the cyst during surgery. A month later I was back in hospital for persistent upper right quadrant pain and had a CT scan that showed the liver cyst had regrown back to 9cmx7cm.
I had an MRI a few weeks ago and the consultant called me back today to confirm they were confident the cyst was benign however it was now measuring 12cmx9cm so seems to be growing and growing. I have been referred to Kings Hospital.
I am living in discomfort at best daily, I feel like I cannot even exercise anymore as the wrong stretch causes pain. I have started suffering with GERD as well as general feelings of tightness.

Has anyone been referred on with liver cysts, any stories they can share regarding resolutions?

Hi redrighthand83, I'm so pleased you've finally got a date for your surgery, how has the pain been?

Hi redrighthand83, I'm so pleased you've finally got a date for your surgery, how has the pain been?

Its been manageable - I was prescribed some Omeprazole for nausea etc as everything is very squashed,
Kings diagnosed biliary cystadenoma so they will remove alongside a section of liver to remove cancer risks. Surgery is open but am trying to focus on the positives like the feeling being gone and the time off work!

I've had a couple of scans again (ct and u/s) and they've said that it's grown a few centimetres but I think because it's not causing me too much pain at the moment they want to leave well alone for a while. They said before that they wouldn't do more surgery unless it was like a few years ago. I'm waiting for a follow up appointment so will see what they say then. Hopefully you will feel so much more comfortable after the surgery. The nausea is horrible isn't it, I lost so much weight as I just couldn't eat much at all in the end.

Mine is being removed because it isnt a simple cyst, but before they decided this they did say surgery is still an option if it affects quality of life. I am fed up of feeling so full and out of breath where its pressing against everything. I will let you know how the surgery goes and fingers crossed they push through for you!
