What happens at mammogram?

I have a mammogram next week at 11.50am and I think the clerk said they check images and order a breast clinic appt.
Does that happen on the same day?

My son has an appointment for a biopsy on the same day but at 3pm and same hospital.

How much time do you think I should schedule off work?

It's urgent referral if that helps.

A mammogram is usually a 10 min appt. Top off, stand pressed against the cold plate of a machine, while the radiographer presses a sort of clamp thing over the breast. Two or three different positions for each side that needs scanning.

My urgent referral involved them looking at the images later that day and then texting me an appointment for the following morning which took about 90 mins for scans and a biopsy.

Call and check as it varies. I had a mammogram, thingummy scan and biopsy on the same day so was there for about 5 hours

If just a mammogram then the process is quick as pp said.
I have had one today but it was at a Breast Clinic for a lump investigation. I also had an ultrasound, aspiration of diagnosed cyst, etc, and was in the clinic for about an hour and a half. If just a screening hopefully quick as saw others whisking in and out for those.

I went about 6 months ago took about two hours to do mammogram, a scan and then biospy. Suppose it depends on how busy they are on the day really.

My experience was the same. Mammogram first, and it literally took 10 mins. Was then sat in another waiting room for an ultrasound scan. Didn't have to wait too long before I was called in. Was diagnosed straight away with a cyst, it was drained there and then, before I was sent to another waiting room to see a consultant, who examined me and then I got discharged.
All in all I don't think I was there longer than 2 hours.
Wish you well with your appointment

Thanks so much everyone. I'll keep my mum on standby in case she needs to bring my ds.
His shouldn't take long ( lip being biopsied for a mole).
