Bug or food poisoning!

Over the last 9 months myself and my husband have suffered from upset stomachs. Normally come on at the same time or within 2-3 days of each other. We put it down to a bug and on one occasion for posing.

The upset lasts for a day then clears away. This has happened maybe 5 times in the last 9 months. I went to the doctors separately and was told basically keep an eye and if it becomes constant or blood etc then come back.

Anyway on Saturday DH had an upset stomach episode only had to 'go' once but stomach was sore and tender for a few days. Fast forward to yesterday and my stomach suddenly went, full works felt sick as well! Normally as I say after a day it clears away but this time I am still 'going' this morning and it seems that my body is trying to get rid of something it doesn't like!

I ate out on Monday evening and had chicken so it came on about 12 hours after eating this. I feel pretty crappy generally this time and even Imodium that I took during the night hasn't stopped it this morning.

Does this sound like a bug or food poisoning. I feel a bit sick but haven't been sick just constantly having to 'go'.

Not sure at what point you start to worry, maybe 48 hours?

I think there are various bugs going round at the moment and everyone will react differently to them so it could still be connected to DH episode on sat?

Hmm sorry to hear you're suffering, that sounds rough!
No idea really whether it's bugs or food poisoning without a detailed history of what you've done.
In terms of food poisoning, it's something I'm paranoid about and I use a food thermometer to measure the temperature of absolutely everything I eat and/or reheat. I think if it gets to about 72 degrees then (unless it's rice) there's basically no risk of food poisoning. So maybe you could try to be extra cautious with cooking and reheating food, and see if you still suffer with the same symptoms going forward?

Well I was ok yesterday afternoon after taking some Imodium.

This morning it's back with a vengeance and I feel quite unwell!

NHS seems to say for a bug up to 5 days upset is normal so I guess it's just a ride it out situation!

Food poisoning is usually very violent..
could be an intolerance to something or food that wasn’t totally fresh, undercooked etc or a bug
shouldnt really take Imodium if you’re not sure. Ime one dose of Imodium won’t do much anyway unless it’s a pretty mild case
