Red burning itching cheeks

This title says it all really. Chin also a bit red and earlobes intermittently red and swollen.
Dry throat, slightly runny nose and no other symptoms. Has been going on for a few days.
Thought maybe rosacea or slapped cheek but doesn’t seem to fit properly with either. Don’t think it’s an allergy as not changed anything recently and antihistamine don’t help.
Ant thoughts on what it might be and how to calm this awful feeling please 🙏

Allergi reaction possibly? Have you tried anti histamines?

Thisisstrange98 · 09/04/2023 15:18

@QueenSmartypants the is for your reply. However don’t think it’s an allergy as not changed anything recently and antihistamines don’t help.

Oh sorry I missed you saying that in your opening post. Otc anti histamines might now be strong enough, so it could still be a reaction and it is possible to develop intolerance for something you are exposed to regularly, even every day. I can't think of a viral cause for the pattern of symptoms...I would talk to a pharmacist this weekend and see what they suggest.

My DD just had very similar symptoms- was strep and scarlet fever. Not as common in adults as kids but still possible - worth chat with doctor in case you need ABs

Have you been out in the Sun?

a few years ago I had a rash on my hands. Turned out it’s polymorphic light eruption. My child also gets it on their neck with the first lot of spring sunshine. We have to use factor 50 every day.

i also occasionally get it across my face, looks like a lupus rash.

Thisisstrange98 · 09/04/2023 16:17

It’s not the sun - actually feels a bit better when I’m outside.

The sun doesn’t cause an issue in the moment. Give it a google.

Thisisstrange98 · 09/04/2023 22:11

@JeepersCreeperrs thanks but I’m pretty sure it’s not that due to when it started.
