Piriton is making dd hyperactive! What else can I use for chickenpox?

I'm not saying I want something to knock her out but piriton at bedtime is obviously not a good idea for dd. I have never seen her so hyperactive. I can't work out what ingredient in it could have had that effect on her. Is there something else that she can take that will stop the itching (which so far the Piriton seems to have been great at doing) but without the added floorshow at 11 at night?!

Phenergan can be bought over the counter but it may do the same thing.
Although medised is not for itching it may knock her out enough to stop her being irritated by the itching.
