I’ve been suffering with diarrhoea for 36 hours accompanied by horrid abdominal cramps.

I’ve tried eating as things seem to be subsiding but it sets it off again. I’ve not been sick and am keeping squash /water down.

the NHS advice is very vague - it can last for up to 7 days and there’s nothing specific to avoid eating.

i toook some paracetamol which helped a little with the pain but made me feel more sick.

is there anything else that I can do? I’m 45 and never had anything like this before!

How are you today?

Muchtoomuchtodo · 06/04/2023 13:35

I was only up twice in the night so that was much better. 2 more episodes this morning but less stomach pain.

I’ve not eaten since yesterday morning and have absolutely no appetite.

i’m hoping that I’m through the worst, we’re supposed to be visiting family over the weekend 🤞🏻

I'd keep up with the water and when you feel up to it, try a LITTLE food. I'd also consider an imodium or similar because sometimes after a severe episode your body needs a chemical reset.

Just keep drinking maybe try some bland food like rice later you will need to help your gut later on so conside buying some gut friendly bacteria

Thank you.

I’m worried about taking Imodium and feeling worse if whatever it is hasn’t run its course.

i think I’ll have to try eating something bland today even though I really don’t feel like it.
