Ok first of all let me explain i have a bad fear of internal exams. (i wouldnt say a phobia as i have a phobia of dentists and its much worse than this, but its still a very real very bad fear)

My periods are regular like clockwork, every 28days. But for the last few months I have been bleeding inbetween them at around 14 days, so ov time ish i guess? usually just some fresh red blood when i wipe (sorry tmi) but this month it was lots - and went through to my jeans. But stopped after a day.

Anyone had this - if so what did the dr do when you went? I have made an appointment to see the nurse as shes really nice, but i may chicken out. Im deffo not pregnant and the bleeding isnt after sex.

Thanks

There are lots of reasons why this happens. Sometimes it's hormonal. They'll probably give you a smear. You should go and get this sorted. It can't be nice for you. Be brave, then you'll know.

I bleed around ovulation too, but more spotting. If I were you I would go. Having an internal and being told you're fine is a lot less scary than not having one and finding a problem later on.

Hi! I started a similar thread a little while back, as i have started having a period every two weeks. It's a good idea to have it checked out, and i am always more comfortable with nurses than gps (mostly male in my health centre). For me i think it is linked with having started and stopped the mini-pill between Oct/Nov last year and Jan this year, but bleeding mid cycle can have other causes, and it's best to find out which one it is for you. Good you're being brave!

Had similar problem, mine was caused by mini-pill. Talk to your Dr. Whilst having my last smear Dr told me about her 80 year old patient who got really excited to be told this was her last one. Tell the nurse doing your smear about your fears and see if you can arrange for a quiet time when she won't be rushed. You'll be ok.

I had this and it was fibroids. I was referred to hospital by the GP, and they did do an internal and a scan. I was supposed to have more investigations, but got pg with DS! Since having him (2 years ago now), I've had no more problems. You should always get bleeding like this checked out. It's almost always nothing to worry about, but better safe than sorry.
