4yo DD hurts when she wees

DD1 fell off a picnic bench today, and somehow caught herself between the legs on the edge of it before hitting the ground. It obviously hurt her a lot, and it hurt when she went to the toilet later. In fact, could be coincidence, but she needed to wee much more often than usual.

This evening I had a look for her, and inside, the edge of her vagina, looks very red and sore.

Can that be caused by the fall? She says she hasn't hurt herself there any other time.

Needing to wee more than usual, and hurting when they wee, are symptoms of a urine infection. She needs to see the GP tomorrow.

It could be completely co-incidental that she fell. The redness could be where she fell, but isn't necessarily the cause of the stinging.

your dds wee not yours
hope shes ok.my dd used to get infections quite a lot was horrible .but maybe if shes bruised and it hurts when she wees, she maybe isnt weeing enough each time as hurts to much so needs to go more often.does that make sense

Urine infection? Make sure she drinks lots and take her to the gp.

ivykaty44 · 13/02/2008 22:05

Could be a UTI. Give your dd lots to drink and if you havn't had a UTI yourself please be aware it is very painful and she may have a really urgency to go to the loo all of a sudden, and could wet her pants.

Lemon barley water helps, avoid sugarly foods and oj. Give her pain relief

Ok thanks all, we'll go and bother the gp tomorrow.

how is she today?

NoBiggy · 14/02/2008 10:34

Well, she didn't need the loo in the night, and just had her usual wee this morning. She says it doesn't hurt, and she can't tell me how it was hurting, or exactly where.

She's not had a raised temperature at all. She has instructions to tell me if it hurts again, and we'll take it from there. I'm tending to think it was the bash that caused the problem, but I'll keep a close eye on her.
