Condom allergy?

I thought I had thrush or irritation from shaving. The last 2 times we've used a condom I've had burning in the vagina, but also around the vulva (we've played around there with the condom on).
The thing is it didn't happen prior to these 2 occasions with a condom on.
It's a new relationship and when I've not seen him in between it's kind of cleared up.
It kind of burns and is really sensitive.
Does it sound like an allergy?

Could be. Latex allergy is fairly common. Have you ever reacted to latex gloves?

Ostryga · 03/04/2023 07:36

Do you react to kiwi, bananas or avocado? Lots of people with a latex allergy will react to those as well. Have you ever had sore hands after using latex gloves?

Yes I think I used latex gloves years ago and reacted, I've always used different since. Yes I get a tingly tongue with kiwi!
It's a really uncomfortable feeling, it does feel like more of a reaction when he's inside me, rather than something that was in there lurking around, and when he went to touch me it was so sensitive and stingy/burning.
Thank you.

It could be the latex that is a common allergy. Another less common allergy is the spermicide as most condoms are coated in it.

I was allergic to the gel that came with the cap. Kept thinking I had thrush until I realised.

Sounds like it could be the latex then. You can get non-latex condoms, I think polyutherane. Sexual health clinics usually have them and should give you some. You could try that once the current soreness has gone away and see if it continues.

Brilliant, thank you. I will get some from there, good idea!

Big Boots branches usually have them, too, but make sure you read the packet - they're usually clear if they're suitable for latex allergies.

@EBearhug thank you!
