I need to ask my GP for a different path of treatment but I'm not sure what I should be asking for so hoping someone can help me get my words right before I'm fobbed off again
I've had IBS all my life, not horrendous and well managed with buscopan. Since having DC I developed really bad acid reflux, I assumed a hernia but was never offered investigation just omeprozole. Took that for a while but found it made my IBS worse so was put on ranitidine, that I had no problems with. After having more DC ranitidine was discontinued. I managed on gaviscon for a long time but last year found the reflux getting worse. Again GP just wanted to put me back on omeprazole, I had awful IBS and I told GP I didn't really want to be on a PPI but she pushed trying esomperzole and after I pushed back agreed to a endoscopy. That pill give me awful IBS again and now she's trying me on Lansoprazple and it's the same. It's definitely a hiatus hernia, im glad I finally know that, the consultant I saw for the endoscopy recommended upping my lansoprazole from 15mg to 30mg daily but I'm waking every night with the worst stomach pain, like nearly passing out it's so bad, sweating and nausea with it, it usually lasts 30mins-90mins, sometimes relived by diarrhea but not always. I don't want to keep trying different PPIs but that's all my GP seems to want to do
I just don't know what other options there are, can anyone recommend anything I can read about before I go back to the GP?
