I found some pills - how do I find out what they are

without going to a pharmacy

I know what they are likely to be but need to know exactly what and what strength.

I worked in a pharmacy here in the states, and they had books and computer programs to help identify a drug. We were able to do it over the phone if people told us the color, shape and what was on both sides of the pills. The only time we couldn't was when they weren't legal. I'm guessing you would be able to do the same thing.

Thank you both. They are perfectly legal but I don't want to have to explain to a pharmacy why I have such a range of pills, especially when they realise what they are (I have a rough idea of what type of medicines they are).
