Terrified about mum's scan

Hello,
My mum (66) has been having right side pain and discomfort for a few weeks and has been to her GP who has referred her for a scan. Years back she was told there were some abnormalities on her liver (can't remember exactly what it was). Her own parents both died of pancreatic cancer in their 50s years ago.
She knows I suffer with depression and anxiety so I feel she may try and hide the truth from me, if the outcome is serious. That makes me even more scared! Anyone who can reassure me please?

  • It was a liver hemangioma they detected years but they weren't concerned about it.

We can't reassure you as we don't know what the issue is, or the fact that she has ignored it for years. But we can be here if you want to talk.

The main thing is getting your Mum's scan done. Good luck and hope you have good news.

Thanks, she didn't ignore it as such. She had it investigated at the time (2010 approx) and they said there was no cause for concern at that time. She had no symptoms for years and then a couple of weeks ago the discomfort started up. I know people can't really reassure me, I shouldn't have asked for that really. I'm struggling with my MH as it is at the moment and feel really alone and can't talk to anyone about my fears

You can talk to us. When is her scan? x

Thanks, she isn't sure when it is yet, she's waiting to hear. Hopefully it won't be too long

I have that too. I was told it nothing to worry about.
