FIT test >400, panicking!

Went to GP with symptoms of anaemia, have had symptoms for years (palpitations, dizziness, lead legs) usually due to low ferritin (6!) - my HB sits around 12.5.

He did FIT test not expecting to find anything as I've had no issues with bowels, however the result has come back at >400, which Dr Google informs me is an 80% chance of bowel cancer!

Ive been put on the 2week pathway for colonoscopy, so will hopefully find out soon whats going on for sure. I know that there could be other explanations such as polyps, colitis ... but the result being so high has scared me.

I'm currently on roaccutane (3 months in) so I'm wondering if this could have contributed in any way.

Experiences and any knowledge welcome!

Oh no - I have the same symptoms! No idea but glad you're getting checked and you have flagged it to me too. I hope it's nothing 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Thankyou dollypartin, same for you!

Forgot to mention on original post that I'm 32, no family history of bowel cancer.

Hi @Yarnball I know this is an old post but I'm just wondering what happend if you are okay? My fit results came back today same as you 400 I have had bleeding for over 4 weeks now with abdominal pain I'm so scared in 34 f

@Mummmyy I had a FIT test >400 and was referred via the 2 week cancer pathway for a colonoscopy. I was terrified that it was cancer because I'd lost weight, was shitting blood and was tired all the time.

Turned out I had ulcerative colitis

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to me @spiggydit that does put my mind at ease a little bit obv with it being 400 is really high and Dr Google doesn't help too much does it I really appreciate you taking the time to reply to me and reassuring me thank you so much hope all Is well with u and your coping with your ulcerative colitis

Nat6999 · 14/07/2023 20:28

Don't worry, mine was over 1200 in 2014, I refused all tests & investigations, I'm still alive & no further symptoms.

Mummmyy · 15/07/2023 09:10

Wow @Nat6999 that is alot isn't it. I won't ask why u didn't want tests because it isn't any of my business and you will have your reasons but it definitely has been a long time from your results until now so that is good thank you for taking the time to reply to me and letting me know I really appreciate it. It's just the blood and pains in stomach that's worrying me
