Confused about Magnesium / Migraines

DD is 14 and suffers from regular unilateral migraines with aura. These started about a year ago. Every time she has an episode (once or twice a month), she takes paracetamol and / or ibuprofen and usually feels better after a few hours. I found several studies online saying that magnesium supplements can help migraine sufferers but I am a little confused, as there are different types of magnesium on the market. Does anyone know which one might help DD the most?

I like the together Health marine magnesium. It seems to have a few different types combined and is milder on the stomach. I would also advise keeping a headache diary to see if you can predict when they occur, for example during her menstrual cycle.

400mg of Riboflavin has been shown to have a beneficial effect on Migraines as well and I have recently started taking this. Migraine action, and the national Migraine centre are two good websites for information.
