Gallstones

I was in hospital yesterday as I had terrible chest pain. After loads of tests it turns out I have multiple gallstones. I'm waiting for an appointment with a surgeon. In the meantime I need some ideas for easy meals that won't cause a flare up. Also any nice smoothie ideas? I find breakfast hard asim busy with my children. Would like to try smoothies for busy days.

Anyone else had gallbladder out? Bit nervous

A work colleague had his gallbladder out on a Thursday and was back in office on the Monday. I thought he was mad, but he said he felt fine to work, he did sit down most of the day. It’s fat that causes gallstones, so you should try and cut out cakes, biscuits, pastries and fatty meats.

I had my gallbladder out last week. It was the first operation I've ever had despite being late fifties, and it all went very smoothly. I'm up and about, a little bit sore, very tired but basically ok. I was very nervous but it's such a relief to have got rid of the pain!

I've been waiting for my surgery for 17 months so far and had the stones for a few years before I was referred so I have a very low fat diet!

I find a massive help is to look at veggie and vegan food (except vegan cheese which is mostly oil i think). Dhal is a staple as is veggie / prawn curry and boiled rice. We eat a lot of beans and pulses now, lots of easy slow cooker recipes. I seem OK with fish so I often have salmon with veg and new potatoes or white fish with a ratatouille type accompaniment.

The healthy living James site has a lot of quick easy and Healthy options but I also like to get books from the library to try out lots of different things.
