Mouth ulcers

Hi, posting here as I've had enough, can't get a doctors appointment and the pain it's causing me is so depressing. Long story short every month when I'm due on my period I get a mouth full of ulcers, on my tongue, lip, cheeks, I have 4 currently and to even talk I'm in agony let alone eat or drink. I only ever get them when I'm due on my period so guessing it's hormonal? I'm not on any medication or birth control. Has anyone else experienced this?

My son kept getting recurring mouth ulcers. He had a blood test and he came back with low folate levels, he took folic acid for 3 months and they have now stopped. I sympathise because they are so painful.

Corsodyl mouthwash helped a lot

Yep. Get them when I'm run down. Bloody agony - you have my full sympathy.

Don't know if it'll help anyone else, but I don't get anywhere near as many now since I started using toothpaste with no sodium laurel sulphate. A website for fellow sufferers suggested an allergy/reaction to SLS was one potential cause; figured it wouldn't hurt to try and I've noticed a huge reduction in the amount of ulcers I've had since then. There's no scientific evidence for it, but it's working for me so I'm happy to keep avoiding it.

Another fellow sufferer here. I get them when I'm unwell or run down. They are miserable and give me all sorts of other horrible symptoms from headache and swollen glands to total fatigue. Agree with corsadyl mouthwash for pain relief and quicker healing. Anbesol liquid also takes the pain away for a little while. Salt water rinses or even salt dabbed directly onto the ulcer if you're feeling brave.
And do get some tests because there could be a really simple solution like a multivitamin or supplement that might improve things for you.

Me too. I got them monthly when I had a baby and any time I am short of sleep… I tried all the cures but nothing but sleep works for me. Haven’t had them for a while now. There is a gel like mouth wash that is worth using to cover them up when they are bad - sorry I can’t remember the name.

some people swear by eating eggs, others by choosing toothpaste carefully etc. for me it is needing enough sleep

What toothpaste are you using? Does it contain sodium lauryl sulfate? If so change to one without it. Once I changed toothpaste to one without I stopped getting mouth ulcers. And ouch they hurt..
I use sesodyne pronamel but most brands does one without these days
