fluconazole and Clarithromycin

I have been taking Clarithromycin for almost a week now and did tell the out of hours gp that I am on thrush treatment for 6 months and her response wasn't very convincing she said 'umm should be fine' I've just searched online as when I took fluconazole I had extremely bad diarrhoea whilst taking the anti biotics (sorry tmi) and apparently there can be a dangerous interaction?! I'm so scared now and I'm so upset that she prescribed knowing this?! Should I call up a doctor to discuss due to the bad stomach it has caused?

I'd speak to a pharmacist. They'll be able to advise and easier to speak to.

speak to a pharmacist or call the number on the package leaflet.

Both those drugs separately can cause diarrhoea. There is an interaction between them which does need to be discussed with a pharmacist if you have certain underlying health conditions.

Thank you, I did end up calling my local pharmacy and they told me to stop the anti biotics immediately and call 111 - 111 have sent me a&e due to potential interaction

That's good :) I thought that would probably be the outcome. There are lots of other options for antibiotics they can use so hopefully it'll all be sorted out soon x

They took me vitals and things and everything was fine, they did say to stop the anti biotics and check with doctor when it's safe to take the thrush tablet again which I have done, I have also filed a complaint for the doctor who prescribed this to me after I told her I was taking this tablet.
