Does anyone else have this annoying virus?!

Sore throat off and on - mainly on a night - for about a week, then it started constantly. My voice is croaky and I get a cough every now and again, and now earache too. Negative Covid test.

Saw the nurse yesterday who said my throats red and it's either a lingering viral infection, or the start of tonsillitis, so prescribed me penicillin in case.

I'm exhausted! Fell asleep by 7 the last 2 nights and want to feel normal again! Anyone else? Or am I sailing in this plague-ridden boat alone?

No you are not alone. I have had similar. It’s lingered for about a week. I lost my voice for about a day and my ears really hurt. Since Covid I have had virus after virus!

User339406 · 22/03/2023 18:20

I've had a sore throat for a week. Not awful, but annoying all the same. Also feeling wiped out. I could go to bed already.

daisydoods · 23/03/2023 15:08

Ah I'm pleased I'm not alone! However sorry to hear you've both had similar - bring on the summer and the warmer weather to kill off all these bugs

3/4 in this house have it. We’re all dying and been in bed for a week. The pain is unreal. 2 children and an adult.

Londontoderby · 23/03/2023 15:43

We never get sick too, our immune systems have been shot since covid

ruralwanderer · 23/03/2023 15:49

Me and my 3 year old fatigue and the school receptionist have it too. Sore throat that feels like I've swallowed all the knives in my cutlery drawer, constant earache and a headache. I also developed a whole body viral rash on the weekend which has fortunately now gone. Virus season can well and truly do one.

ruralwanderer · 23/03/2023 15:49

Fatigue = daughter although I am fatigued lol!

fruitbrewhaha · 23/03/2023 15:50

Yep, I’m exhausted.

WildAloofRebel · 23/03/2023 15:51

I think I have the beginnings of this which is great timing as I’m singing in public for the first time in 10 years tomorrow 🤣 yeah it’s rubbish OP! This winter has been horrendous for bugs it seems. Endless!

Chill09 · 23/03/2023 17:14

Me too. Started with the sore throat Sunday, in my ears and nose and the exhaustion is something else. I’m hoping it for soon

TheVanguardSix · 23/03/2023 17:18

I’m ok but in the past week my 21 year old DS and his GF have been here at home with this virus. DD12 too. Exhausted with it! DS8 and I seem to have both swerved it so far… 😬

Madeintowerhamlets · 23/03/2023 17:18

There was another thread similar to this OP but yes I am the same! Basically I had Covid & got over that & then got this virus. It started like a heavy cold & I thought I had got over it but then I started to get a really sore throat at night which alternates sides. Mine has been going on for weeks now! I also feel knackered.

Seaoftroubles · 24/03/2023 11:11

I have it too, started with the cough and turned into chest infection and Bronchitis. Had antibiotics, but still lasted about 3 weeks. Had a week of feeling better then got this; sore throat, coughing, loads of disgusting phlegm and pressure in my ear and sinuses. Sneezing and blowing for England! Now on more antibiotics but still feeling rubbish. I never got coughs or colds before having Covid last year.

wineandsunshine · 24/03/2023 21:30

Yeah, I've just finished my second round of antibiotics for tonsillitis in six weeks. Lost my voice for two days.

To be honest, the pain in my ears was worse! Now I have a lingering cough which is pathetic and annoying!

Bloody germs!

Purplesv · 25/03/2023 11:04

I'm suffering so badly today. I had what seemed like a brief 24 hour cold-type thing last week then I was right as rain until yesterday when I got the most excruciating sore throat begin out of nowhere. As PP described its like swallowing a knife. Alternating from boiling hot to freezing cold.

Typically this would start on a Friday evening after the doctors have gone home for the weekend. I have white patches on my throat so called NHS 111 as I suspected strep throat and they kindly sent a prescription for antibiotics as I have a history of iGAS and sepsis from strep A.

This morning my neck is all swollen and hurts to touch all the way around.. swallowing hurts even more.. but now my nose is completely blocked too. Idk whether that is a viral thing ontop of the strep. I feel ghastly.
