Toddler with bad cold, high temps - take to docs?

Hi, ds is 16 months and has been suffering with a cold for 4 days now. His temperature (under armpit) just now was 39.2. He is very chesty and coughing, runny noise etc, red face, eyes are puffy and weeping, and he is not seeming to be improving at all. Very subdued too, though he is eating.

I'm sure it's just a cold and didn't feel it warranted a visit to the docs but now I'm not sure. Could it have developed into anything else? Should I take him if not better tomorrow or just continue to keep him warm, Calpol etc? Thanks.
