Bodies Do Creepy Stuff - Chomping on side of tongue in my sleep

For years I've had this thing where I wake up and find myself chewing gently on my tongue - and this kind of continues unless I consciously force myself to stop it.
It's gentle enough - think, scraping fur off your tongue with your teeth - to not cause any harm.
But it's wierd!
Does anyone else find this happens to them? What's going on, what causes it?
I can't find anything online about it, stuff about grinding your teeth in your sleep sure, sleepwalking yes, tongue chewing? Not a dickie bird.
There are millions of people just in the UK, I can't be the only one. Hope it's not a sign of anything serious!
