Loose stools and stomach cramps - is it just IBS?

I went to the GP in June and December last year after having blood in my stool. The blood only lasted for a few days, but obviously is a red flag symptom that warrants investigation. I had a colonoscopy last month with suspected IBD but everything looked normal and all biopsies came back normal too.

However, I keep having these episodes in the evening where I get stomach cramps all of a sudden and I end up having multiple bowel movements that are loose. TMI but they smell different to my normal BMs too. This used to happen around once a month but it's getting more frequent and now it's around twice a week.

Do these symptoms sound familiar to anyone who has had a normal colonoscopy? I'm not sure whether to go to my GP as my colonoscopy and all blood tests are normal so I presume that they will just say it's IBS and there's nothing that they can do?

Get your thyroid checked

Get your thyroid checked

Is that something that would have been picked up in a full blood count?

If you've had a normal colonoscopy then yes, I think everything else has been ruled out. Which means it's probably IBS

Sounds very much like IBS too. I sympathise, as I have IBS myself. Try buscopan tablets for the cramps.

It does sound very much like IBS.
I assume you have been checked for Coeliac disease (although you would most likely have been iron deficient on your full blood count if it was Coeliac).

Yes I've been tested for coeliac which came back negative. I did have slightly low B12 so I'm getting a repeat blood test soon, but my iron levels were fine
