persistent sore throat

I've had a sore throat for a week now, feels like i swallowing glass and noticed some blood on the left tonsil last night. I booked an app with the gp who checked me over and said everything looks ok, probably a viral but to go back if it hasn't cleared by next week. It's still feeling really sore and has flared up again tonight. Surely it isn't just a viral? It feels like when i've got tonsillitis (which i suffer regularly with) but there's no yellow spots!!

If there are no pus spots its viral. I'm recovering from bacterial tonsillitus, swelled up on left side so bad I couldn't even sleep!

Do salt water gurgles it will really help for viral and so will pineapple juice or eating fresh pineapple (bromide in it helps the throat)

i knew it weren't tonsillitis because it hasn't gone yellow it's just so sore and still feels like glass in my throat.

I have the same at the moment, had it on and off since before Christmas - sometimes with white spots or patches, sometimes just a deep angry red. I don't have any tonsils.

It's miserable today, like swallowing razor blades, plus I feel achy and drained. Covid negative, no temperature. 🤷‍♀️

A couple of days it's felt like i've got a golf ball at the back of my throat and i've been up in the night with the pain, it's driving me mad!

Nah. I have a list of things I need to speak to the GP about (persistent sore throat, joint pain, updating medications and previous bloods showing high ferritin etc) but by the time I've redialled 30 times then been 19th in the queue, there are no appts left.

What's the point! Maybe I'll dig deep and go private, where else is there to go.

For now I'm taking paracetamol every four hours and hoping these odd loin pains aren't kidney related.
