Can't stop falling asleep at work

I am interested to see if anyone else has this problem.

I have an office job, it isn't exciting but I don't find it that boring. The problem is I keep drifting off to sleep. I struggle to keep my eyes open. It happens at any time of the work day, but will happen multiple times. It isn't a deep sleep as I am able to stop that from happening, it is just a snooze for a second or two, or the feeling of being extremely tired.

I make sure I get up and walk around the office every hour and this will wake me up for about 10 minutes but that's it.

It can happen when I'm reading my book in the evening and when driving. My commute is only 10 to 15 minutes so I can fight it. I gave up with the cinema years ago as I would always fall asleep.

It doesn't happen at any other times so I am sure it is not narcolepsy. I generally get just over 7 hours sleep at night.

Check your thyroid.

Are you sleeping OK at night? A few years ago this was happening to me. Went to the doctor, who referred me to the sleep clinic. I ended up being diagnosed with sleep apnoea.

I was going to mention the possibility of sleep apnoea too.

Have you tried increasing your water intake, this worked for me. However if it is impacting on your driving or there is a risk of it happening you need to seek medical advice and get bloods taken.
