Ferrous sulphate

Hi all,
I have been put on ferrous sulphate due to continuous low ferritin (15, so not super low, but not great) which wasn't improved by months and months of spatone. Thankfully hemoglobin levels are fine. I started the iron tabs 4 days ago. Doctor suggested taking them with food to avoid gastro side effects, so that's what I've been doing. All weekend I have had dreadful acid reflux, and a taste of blood in my mouth in the morning. I honestly feel like someone has burned a hole in my chest. It's so uncomfortable. Even omeprazole isn't touching it! Has anyone else experienced this? Have contacted the GP via their website to query as to whether I just need to tough it out or not, but in the meantime I would be interested to hear other people's experiences. I'm on 325mg/day.
Thanks.

I had this with ferrous sulphate, they switched me to ferrous fumarate which was better but still unpleasant.

I ended up taking a smaller dose, the GP told me that studies suggest once a day may be as effective as three times a day. Can you ask them about that?

@MollyMunster thank you. I am only on one 325mg tablet a day, so I have a feeling this isn't going to work for me. Honestly the acid feeling is so bad! I had acid reflux in both pregnancies, but this is on another level.

I’m on ferrous glucomate which is weaker still but doesn’t give me any side effects
