How persistent are you with GP appointments?

In the last 3 weeks I’ve been to GP twice for ear pain. Nothing they give me has relieved it. I had 4 days off work last week as it was excruciating, I’ve said I’m going back to work tomorrow as I feel like I’m taking the mickey being off.
GP did say to come back if it didn’t resolve but honestly I’m now at the point where I’m fed up and embarrassed to be off work any longer. I just need to hope it resolves itself.
Do you find yourself going back to work and hoping things improve themselves or keep on with GP until you get full resolution?

I feel too defeated, embarrassed and/or anxious to repeatedly go back for things so I just carry on suffering until things get too horrendous, or maybe I will just keel over one day.

Last July the Dr told me to get back in touch if I hadn’t heard anything from the primary care MH team by September 2022….yet here we are in March 2023.

The Physio told me in December after 2 sessions, that’d I’d waited 7 months for, that they couldn’t help me so the Dr needed to refer me to someone else. I just can’t bear to get back in touch with them so I just hobble on.

There are 3 other things that need dealing with that cause various levels of pain & discomfort. I seem to be at that age where everything is going wrong or hurts!

I would go back, the treatment obviously hasn’t worked. When I had a persistent ear infection I was given a set of seven doses of antibiotics in individual pipettes to squeeze on. The chemist said they were hospital grade and he would have to special order them. I was also given dexamethasone drops which were absolute heaven, really relieved my sore ears.

Thanks, I know I’m being ridiculous but as @Onlyuselessadvice says, I’m already feeling defeated by it.

I can’t be off sick for this for too long, I’m already getting the ‘how are you feeling’ messages from my colleagues which I know translates as ‘when are you coming back’ and my manager seems a bit ‘short’ with me when I’ve checked in.

I may try and get another appointment but work it around actually going to work.
