Blood tests

When you have a blood test via an NHS GP (eg I've just had my routine thyroid bloods and B vitamins done), would it be tested solely for thyroid markers/specifics or include a range of markers for others diseases in general? Reason for question is I've found a small gristly, painless lump on base of my thumb joint which I assume is probably arthritis given my age (mid 50's), so wondering if any cancer would be highlighted?

No. There is no cancer blood test box to tick when ordering blood tests.
There is a tumour marker for ovarian cancer but that would only be ordered if you had specific symptoms.
There are results within other blood tests which may trigger further investigation (scans etc) if results were really abnormal and/or you had any symptoms you had discussed with the Dr.
Arthritis bloods also wouldn’t be ordered for routine thyroid and B12/ folate blood tests.

No, they would only be what the doctor ordered
