How do you brush with an electric toothbrush?

Do you

A) brush as you would with a normal toothbrush, or
B) hold the brush to each tooth for a few seconds before moving along to the next, repeating that action for each surface of the tooth?

B.

B and against gum margins

Fuckitalltohell · 09/03/2023 20:45

I stopped using one a few years ago, partly due to a conversation with my dentist who said that lots of people do (A)
and are causing themselves damage as a result.

Whyisitsososohard · 09/03/2023 20:47

B that's what the dentist said to do. Then brush my tounge with it off.

mynameiscalypso · 09/03/2023 20:55

B is what my dentist told me to do but also making sure to do the gum as well.

B
The oscillating action of the toothbrush is instead of you brushing back and forth like you would with a manual one.

Wolfiefan · 09/03/2023 21:12

When my teen started using one he was told to start at the gum on the front surface of the tooth. Up and down the back of the tooth. One at a time. Advice from dental surgery.

NannyR · 09/03/2023 21:15

B concentrating on the gum line.

TheOrigRights · 09/03/2023 21:23

B - that's the whole point. The bristles are powered to brush your teeth and gums so you don't have to.

I have gum erosion from brushing too hard with a manual brush. I have stopped further erosion since I've been using an electric brush 🦷🪥

CorsicaDreaming · 09/03/2023 21:52

B - but I find it really hard to get out of the habit of doing A

Pinkflipflop85 · 09/03/2023 21:53

B - focusing on the gums.

DrMeredithGrey2023 · 09/03/2023 21:54

Thanks guys.

I do B, but we got new brushes today and my partner queried my method - just wanted to double check myself 🤣
